Congratulations to the 29 new members of Elmwood Park High School’s Harold Grothen Chapter of the National Honor Society, and 32 new members of the Elm Middle School Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society!

Students were chosen based on their scholarship, service, leadership, and character — qualities collectively known as the four pillars of NHS.

The new NHS members are as follows:

The new members were inducted during a ceremony in the EPHS auditorium on May 7. The chapter’s 2024-25 president, senior Natalia Ciura, welcomed the new members and their guests. EPHS Principal Dr. Amanda Brode-Rico gave congratulatory remarks, followed by a candle-lighting ceremony highlighting the four pillars. Other student speakers were the chapter’s outgoing vice president, senior Olivia Shipinski, and juniors Maximilian Ziuzia, Claire Doyle, Kimberly Herrera Ruiz, Karolina Wojdyla, Beanie Martinico and Ximlu Mainit.

Several graduating 8th grade student members spoke at the ceremony. The event also featured a video produced by 2024-25 members Hailey Smith-Young and Matylda Solarczyk. Chapter co-sponsors Christian Hartwig and Molly Hong concluded the ceremony with recognitions and closing remarks.
