Elm Middle School’s eighth graders spent Friday, Sept. 25 building connections, learning to make smart decisions, and developing leadership skills during the annual Snowflake event.

EPHS students from the Snowball program led the day, working with eighth graders in small groups based on their advisories. Each group was assigned a country to represent throughout the day, adding a friendly competitive element to the activities.

Students listened to presentations and joined discussions about topics such as cyberbullying, peer pressure, and violence, with an emphasis on making healthy choices and becoming positive role models.

The day also included a variety of team-building games, from Minute-to-Win-It-style challenges like stacking cups and separating beads to a pool noodle game that had students working together to score for their teams. Students also took part in interactive activities in their classrooms, including the guessing game “Black Magic.”

The event gave eighth graders a chance to learn from the older students’ example while strengthening their teamwork, communication, and leadership skills as they prepare for the transition into high school.
