Spring 2025 Athletics Roundup

Spring 2025 Athletics Roundup
Mer Fenton

We would like to take a moment to celebrate our spring student-athletes and what they have achieved this season!

The Elm girls soccer team has won their conference title! The storybook ending took place at Ridgewood High School as the Cougars shut out rival Mannheim 1-0 in the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference title game. The Cougars finished the 2025 season 10-0-1, with their only blemish a tie with Mannheim on May 1.

Elm Boys Varsity Volleyball

The Elm Middle School varsity boys volleyball team made it to the Leyden-Norwood Athletic Conference championship! The Cougars entered the LNAC varsity tournament with an 8-1 regular season record. They were seeded No. 2 behind undefeated Mannheim, the only team to beat Elm in the regular season.

In EPHS Track and Field, multiple athletes made it to state. Freshman Sonia Iversen accomplished that feat by winning the 300-meter hurdles at the Class 2A sectional meet held at Glenbard South High School. At state, Sonia ran a personal record time of 49.46 seconds.

The girls 4x800-meter relay team also advanced to the IHSA Class 2A girls track & field state finals! Freshman Oliwia Aleksandrowicz, junior Kimberly Herrera Ruiz, sophomore Nicole Gorka and junior Hailey Rivera placed second at the IHSA sectional meet held at Glenbard South High School. The Tiger team ran a personal record time of 10 minutes, 58.97 seconds.

2025 College Athletes

Track & Field senior Jordyn Boatman is one of 4 EPHS students who have signed for collegiate athletics

Our final state qualifier, senior Jordyn Boatman, advanced to the Class 2A boys track & field state finals by winning the long jump at the IHSA sectional meet held at Ridgewood High School. His championship jump measured 6.21 meters (20 feet, 4.5 inches).

Jordyn’s success didn’t end with this season on the field either. He is one of four EPHS seniors who signed to compete in collegiate athletics as they head into college. He signed for both basketball and track & field at William Penn University. He is joined by Carole Akers for volleyball at Triton College, Jessica Craig for softball at Carthage College, and Joshua Ruiz for basketball at Beloit College.

Congratulations to all of our student-athletes for a great season!
